"Panjab University, established in 1882 was relocated to Chandigarh in 1956. It is a state Govt. university under the control of Chandigarh govt. Punjab University offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It also offers research programmes in various fields. The programme of Gandhian & Peace Studies is offered by the University Department of Gandhian & Peace Studies. Department offers MA in Gandhian & Peace Studies and conducts an entrance cum aptitude test for admission to the programme. Admission is based on the marks obtained in Aptitude test."
Graduation in any stream having 50% marks or having B.A. Degree in any out of the following Subjects with 45% Marks is also eligible for admission: Gandhian Studies, Economics, Political Science, History, Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, Sociology, Geography, Women Studies, Human Rights and Duties, Philosophy, Psychology, Defence Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, Police Administration.

The Department conducts aptitude test of 40 marks and the candidates are admitted after the final merit, i.e. 60% academic and 40% aptitude test.
